Kicking Down a Door in Case of Fire: A Last Resort Guide

In an emergency situation like a fire, knowing how to quickly exit a building can be life-saving. While kicking down a door should always be a last resort, there may be extreme circumstances where it becomes necessary. Here's what you need to know:

Before attempting to kick down a door:

1. Ensure there's no other safe exit available
2. Check if the door is hot - if so, do not open it

1. Stand with your back to the door
2. Lift your leg to a 90-degree angle
3. Kick backward forcefully, aiming just below the doorknob
4. Use as much of your foot's surface area as possible

- Avoid shoulder-ramming the door, as it can cause injury
